Benefits of International Work for the individual and the NHS — a personal experience

Dr Healy is a Consultant in Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology with extensive experience in both UK and international infectious disease practice. Alongside clinical work in the UK, Dr Healy has undertaken international work in Lesotho focused on microbiology and inpatient infectious diseases and worked on the frontline of the Ebola outbreak response in Sierra Leone. The talk will focus on these experiences in particular.

Having previously worked in Cardiff, Dr Healy has spent the last eight years developing and expanding Infectious Diseases services in Swansea, with a particular focus on service development, inpatient infection management, and multidisciplinary working.

Dr Healy also has significant experience in the assessment and management of suspected High Consequence Infectious Diseases (HCID) within the UK, including the establishment of systems and pathways to support safe and effective care.

He has extensive firsthand experience of pandemic response through close involvement in the management and operational challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
