“Being a doctor: the battle for the future of our profession”
Professor Banfield has enjoyed a successful career working as a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Glan Clwyd Hospital for over 30 years. Alongside this, he is an Honorary Professor at Cardiff University School of Medicine.
His particular areas of interest are high-risk antenatal care, intrapartum fetal monitoring and care of the critically ill and deteriorating pregnant patient.
He is a nationally recognised educator, was previously the BMA Welsh Council Chair and then went on to be the UK Chair from 2022 to 2025. He has worked tirelessly, and often with his head well above the parapet, for patients and the doctors who care for them.
